M: Hi, Dream’s Gift Shop. How may I help you?
W: I’d like to get some cups for our major customers.
M: What kind of cups are you looking for?
W: I’d like cups with handles. Also, I want them to have lids on top.
M: OK, cups with handles and lids. Would you like to put your company logo on them?
W: Sure. Our company logo is “J & T.”
M: Where would you like to put the logo?
W: Just on the body of the cup, not on the lid, please.
M: I see. We’ll put “J & T” only on the body of the cup. It’s going to be five dollars per cup.
W: Great! I’ll order 100 cups.

M: Are you sure we were supposed to meet her at three?
W: I'm sure. She told me she’d be waiting for us here.
M: Did you tell her we’d pick her up in front of Tom’s Bakery?
W: Of course. I double-checked it with her.
M: We’ve been waiting here for 30 minutes. We may miss our plane.
W: It’s strange. She’s never late for an appointment.
M: Just call her and see where she is now.
W: All right. Oh, I left my cell phone at home!
M: Then you can use my phone.
W: Uh, well, I don’t have her phone number.
M: What are we supposed to do now? I’m not sure we can even start our trip!

M: It is light brown, yellow or white. It became popular as a snack in the 1930s during the Great Depression because it was very cheap. In addition to its use as a snack, some people use this as a decoration during Christmas time by hanging it around Christmas trees. These days, it is hard to imagine seeing a movie without this. It is traditionally salted and buttered but can be sweetened with caramel, which kids like most. The name of this is taken after the sound it makes, when the corn explodes due to heat and high pressure.

M: Wow, it’s lunch time! Grace, I’m starving. Let’s go to the cafeteria.
W: OK. I’m hungry, too.
M: How about taking a walk after lunch? The weather is so nice today.
W: I’m afraid I can’t. I have to retake an English grammar quiz at 12:30.
M: Really? So, you didn’t pass it last time?
W: No. If I don’t pass it today, my English teacher will call my parents.
M: I see. You must be very busy today. You have a social studies presentation, too.
W: Oh, no! I forgot to bring a world map for my presentation. When is our social studies class?
M: It’s next period. You can buy maps in the bookstore during lunch.
W: But I have to take the quiz!
M: Tell you what. I can go get it for you right after eating lunch.
W: Really? You’re a lifesaver.

M: Sure, you can use one of the computers over there.
W: Thank you. How much do you charge?
M: It’s three dollars per hour. How many hours are you planning to use it?
W: I need to use it for just two hours.
M: I see. Anything else?
W: Can I get something to drink?
M: Sure. We have coffee and orange juice.
W: Then, I’ll have coffee, please. How much is it?
M: It’s one dollar, but since you’ll use the computer for two hours, you can have it for free.
W: Great! I appreciate it.

W: Hello, this is Anne Palmer. I’m calling about the party catering service that I reserved last week. Actually, there will be more people than I expected. I said thirty guests would come, but now I expect about forty. I know I should have given you at least two days’ notice for a sudden change like this. So, I hope you understand. When you get this message, please call me back. Thank you.

M: OK. So, how’s the banner hanging?
W: I think it needs to be a little higher. Could you climb up and hang it again?
M: No problem. Where can I get a ladder?
W: There might be one in the back of the stage.
M: I got it. What about our performance masks? You said you’d bring them, right?
W: Oh, I asked my brother to bring them to you because I had to pick up the brochures at the print shop.
M: I haven’t seen him yet. So, why don't you call your brother and ask when he is coming?
W: OK, I will. I hope he’s on the way here.

W: I forgot. Oh, it’s in my pocket.
M: Could you put on the tie and pose again? [Click] Thank you. Now will you stand beside the tree?
W: I thought we’re taking just one individual picture.
M: No. Actually, we need two photos of each student.
W: I see. Can I stand like this?
M: Yes, very good. [Click] Let's move on to the group photo.

W: Well, I haven’t visited my parents for a while.
M: I see. So, where are you going?
W: To Busan.
M: Is the train faster than the bus to get there?
W: I missed the last bus so I have no choice but to wait here for the train.
M: Well, the train for Busan leaves in 10 minutes and the platform is five minutes further away.
W: Really? Then, I’d better get going. It was nice meeting you.

W: Of course you can. You can download it and print it out.
M: Can I fax it?
W: Sure. Please fax the form along with a copy of your driver’s license.

M: I’m looking for some dog food for my three-month-old puppy.
W: This canned dog food is the most popular because it’s soft to chew.
M: I’d like to try a dry dog food.
W: OK. Then, how about this one? It contains the most amount of protein.
M: Oh, no. Not this one. When she eats corn, she has skin trouble.
W: Is that so? Then, these three should be OK because they’re made with brown rice.
M: Yeah. I’d like one of these organic dog foods. Why is this one more expensive?
W: Because it’s imported. As you see, these two products have almost the same qualities.
M: I got it. I’ll take the cheaper one.

M: Really? I didn’t know that. Where can I camp?

③ W: I didn’t mean it that way. Please accept my apology.
M: It can happen to anybody. Don’t let it bother you.

④ W: Did you return the videotape you borrowed from Jenny?
M: Somebody has checked out the last copy.

⑤ W: It was so scary that I couldn’t open my eyes.

M: My English score is three points less than what I expected.
W: You probably made a mistake marking your answer sheet.
M: I checked it twice. I don’t think I made any mistakes.
W: Let me see. You didn’t miss any multiple choice questions. But you missed one of the short-answer questions.
M: Really? I thought I got them all right.
W: Look here. You added one more “t” to “waiting.”
M: Oh, I must have been out of my mind. I shouldn’t have made that stupid spelling mistake.
W: So, you should always double-check your spelling.
M: I’ll definitely be more careful next time.

W: Can you do me a favor? I need a ride to the bookstore on West Street.
M: Sure, I also have to go there to buy a cookbook for my mom’s birthday. What are you going to buy there?
W: Some poetry by T.S. Elliot. One of my classmates told me I can get some there.
M: Hmm, is it required for your English class this semester?
W: No. I just feel like reading his poems.
M: I didn’t know you have such elegant taste.
W: Come on, it’s just that the poems give me comfort.
M: What about checking out his poetry from the library?
W: I could, but I’d like to have some of my own.

M: See? It was good we didn’t call him over.
W: I didn’t know he’d leave. Anyway, why are you so hesitant to offer your seat to somebody?
M: You know, people will look at me.
W: So what?
M: I get so shy when people watch me.
W: Come on, they’ll think of you as a good person.
M: But I don’t like drawing attention to myself.
W: It’s just for a moment, and you really can help others.

M: When is the due date for the report?
W: We should hand it in by this Friday.

M: Good for you. Do you still live alone?
W: No, I don’t live by myself anymore. I have a roommate now.
M: Oh, I thought you prefer to live alone.
W: Not really. I haven’t had a chance to live with someone else for a while.

W: Jennifer is a homeroom teacher at her high school this year. Her students are all friendly and polite, and they study hard in her classes. So she feels pretty happy with them. However, the only problem she found is that they use the school property quite carelessly. They throw trash here and there, and frequently leave the classroom without turning off the TV, computer, or lights. She wants the classroom environment to be cleaner and would like her students to save energy. In this situation, what would Jennifer most likely say to her students?
