W: Hi, Bob. Long time
no see.
M: Nice to see you again, Cathy! How have
you been?
W: Good. I've been so busy studying Korean.
M: Good to hear that. We'll probably be
able to talk in Korean soon.
W: Probably not. I need more practice.
M: Are you studying at a Korean language
academy?
W: Yes, I am studying at Hangeul Academy.
M: Hangeul Academy? I also went there.
Who is your instructor?
W: Ms. Kim.
M: The older lady who has long curly hair
and wears glasses?
W: Well, my instructor has long curly
hair, but she doesn't wear glasses.
M: Aha! Now I remember her.

W: When I was standing right here, waiting
for the bus, there was a squeaking sound.
Then I looked around and saw two cars
crashing into each other.
M: Did you see the traffic light?
W: Yes, do you see that one over there
in front of the bank? I'm sure it was
red because I was looking in that direction
to see if the bus was coming.
M: Thank you for your help. Can I have
your phone number just in case?
W: My number is 010-123-4567.

wrong?
M: It's my mom. She just doesn't understand
me.
W: Oh, Jason. Come over here and sit down.
(Pause) Now tell me.
M: I came home at 10 last night. It was
not that late, but she kept scolding me
and said she wouldn't let me go out with
my friends again.
W: Jason, I don't think 10 p.m. is that
early.
M: OK. But she wouldn't listen to me.
W: I know how you feel. Your mom and I
were also scolded by your grandmother
for coming home late when we were young.
M: Really?
W: Yes. But, now I understand it was for
our own good. |

M: I am exhausted and sleepy because I
stayed up all night yesterday.
W: Why? Did you have an assignment to
finish today?
M: Kind of. Nowadays, I'm helping Professor
Brown's research as his assistant.
W: Jess told me about that the other day.
M: Professor Brown made me arrange his
research. But, I made a big mistake.
W: What? Was it serious?
M: I deleted a very important file from
his computer by accident, so I had to
retype all the materials.
W: I can understand why you couldn't sleep.
Anyhow, did you finish it?
M: Yes. I did. Now I can go home and sleep.

M: This is a traditional
story about gods, goddesses, and humans
with special powers. Although some people
do not believe this is true, it is still
an important part of our culture. It often
speaks about the beginning of the world,
about the forces of nature, about good
and evil, and about universal human qualities
and emotions. Among various stories from
different cultures, we are most familiar
with those of ancient Greek and Rome.

School. May I speak to the editor?
W: Oh, Mr. Lee, this is the editor.
M: Our students' picture came out well
on the cover of the school magazine, but
the size seems rather small. Could you
enlarge it?
W: Sure. That's not a big deal. Anything
else?
M: Can you also place the school logo
in the center?
W: No problem. I'll send you a revised
copy with the new cover tomorrow.

I can get. Can I take a look at them now?

M: Hi, I'm calling about my last cell-phone
bill. I think I've been overcharged.
W: May I have your name and number, please?
M: It's Tyler Jones, 090-2341-0710.
W: OK, Mr. Jones. You were charged $300
this month.
M: Right, but why was I charged $200 for
Internet service?
W: You used it for 90 hours.
M: But I'm only supposed to pay $50 a
month for the unlimited Internet service.
W: That service was for a special promotion.
It expired last month.
M: What? Then, you should have informed
me.
W: I'm sorry about that. But it was mentioned
in our terms. |

M: Yes, but I can't decide which one to
choose.
W: Well, what functions do you want?
M: I would like it to be helpful for my
studies. So, a dictionary is a must. Do
you think Internet access is important,
too?
W: I'm afraid the Internet might distract
you from your studies.
M: You're right. I'd better not have that
function.
W: What is your budget?
M: $300, but the cheaper, the better.
W: Then, a dictionary and the lowest price.
Check this one out.
M: Okay. I'll pick that one.

My old baseball glove is worn out. I need

W: Honey. (Sigh) When I bought you this
glove, you promised that you wouldn't
ask me to buy another one.
M: That's why I've saved up my money.
I have 60 dollars now.
W: Then you can buy a new one. Your old
glove cost around 40 dollars.
M: This time I want to buy a better one.
W: How much is it?
M: It costs 100 dollars. But now it's
on sale for 10% off.
W: That's still expensive. It's better
to buy a new one within your budget.
M: Mom, please. I will vacuum and wash
the dishes.
W: Well... OK. This will be the last time. |

M: I already saw it. Ghost Story looks
interesting.
W: Oh, please. You don't want me to have
nightmares, do you?
M: Hmm... Queen & I sounds too heavy.
W: How about The Father? It received good
reviews, 4 stars out of 5.
M: Well... Look at this one. Your favorite
actor, Matt Damon, is in Sunset Avenue.
W: Oh, really? Ah.. the review is not
so good. It only got 2 stars.
M: Then, we'd better respect the reviewers.

W: Today, let me tell
you about the G20 Summit. G20 stands for
the Group of Twenty. Korea will hold the
fifth G20 meeting in Seoul this November.
The first meeting was held in Washington
in 2008. The fourth meeting was successfully
held in Toronto, Canada this June. This
fall, world leaders from 20 countries
are to visit Seoul to talk primarily about
the global economic crisis and world trade.
Thanks to the G20 Summit in Seoul, Korea's
image in the world will be improved.

W: I think we have to rearrange the order
of the speakers.
M: Why?
W: He said he's caught in a terrible traffic
jam on Sixth Avenue.
M: How long will it take for him to arrive?
W: At least thirty minutes, I guess.
M: Who'll be the first one, then? I think
we have no other option.
W: Mr. Jones is the second speaker. Let
me ask him to be the first.
M: Good. In the meantime, I'll call Mr.

M: Oh, really? How long did you travel?
W: About four weeks. I went to France,
the UK, Italy and Germany. I learned a
lot from the experience. So, I am planning
to go to North America next year.
M: Where did you get the money for it?
W: I worked part-time at a restaurant
